Tours
The Dutch Host Committee has created a unique possibility for the participants of the Tenth World Harp Congress to see something special of our beautiful country. We will be offering you two afternoon trips on Monday 21 July. Water will be an important element as it is in Dutch history.
Tour 1 Queekhoven
13:30 We will leave the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ by bus to go to Breukelen, the town in which Queekhoven is situated, the place where Phia Berghout lived for many years and where the Holland Harpweeks started. When we arrive at Queekhoven we will take a short walk in the village.
14:30 We board ‘De Dame van Amstel”, a small cruise boat that is waiting for us in the river ‘Vecht’. This is a wonderful romantic river with many beautiful castles situated at its borders. We sail to the castle of Belle van Zuijlen who was the first emancipated woman of the 18th century, a composer as well as a writer.
15:30 We will visit the castle of Belle van Zuijlen
16:45 High Tea will be served on board while we are sailing over the river ‘Vecht’.
